The role of the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) is to create and maintain an up-to date geological framework and an archive of the State's mineral and petroleum resources to attract investment in exploration and to provide advice on land use.
Engaging in collaborative projects allows GSWA to:
- leverage valuable research dollars
- gain access to new technology and infrastructure
- gain access to new research and knowledge
- add value to data interpretations and enhancements
- maintain a competitive edge in investment attraction.

ARC Linkage Project LPO883970 Prospectivity of the Windimurra-Narndee Layered Complexs, Western Australia (ANU)

Proposal to the Australian Research Council for an ARC Linkage grant for research on the prospectivity of the Windimurra-Narndee Layered Complexes. GSWA to provide cash contribution of $30 000 ($10 000 pa) and in-kind contributions of $143 137 (totalling $173 137) over the life of the project.
Virtual Core Library Project - Auscope Agreement (Auscope with NCRIS funding)

Agreement for GSWA to house, use, manage and operate a Hylogger-II semi-automated core logging facility as part of a virtual core library project. GSWA will own the Hylogger, maintain it and provide operational staff as a co-invesment in the project.

Application and refinement of a multi-scaled and multi-disciplinary approach to coastal hazard and coastal landform stability assessment by identifying and quantifying changes to coastal landforms within a hierarchy of compartments defined by geological and geomorphological criteria at different scales.
