Regional geophysical surveys

The Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) provides the following regional geophysical information:

  • georeferenced images of regional datasets (often merged with previously flown data from government and non-confidential company surveys)
  • preliminary grids and images from surveys in progress.

GSWA has an arrangement with Geoscience Australia (GA) whereby final point-located (‘vector’) data and grids from regional surveys can be downloaded free of charge from GA's Geophysical Archive Data Delivery System (GADDS). The data on physical media can be purchased from GA's Sales Centre.

Enhanced Compression Wavelet (ECW) format is a compression image format optimized for aerial and satellite imagery. ECW files can be viewed using ER Viewer (an easy-to-use image viewer featuring roaming and zooming of large images) or various Geographic Information System (GIS) applications. Download ER Viewer free of charge from ERDAS.
