With 1055 mining operating sites (open pit, underground mines and quarries) and 169 mineral processing plants, Western Australia (WA) is one of the most productive and diversified mineral regions in the world with more than 50 minerals being produced in commercial quantities.
The State is the source of a significant proportion of world trade in several key commodities. The commodities include Alumina, Diamonds (mainly industrial grade), Gold, Ilmenite, Iron ore (seaborne trade), Nickel, Rutile, Salt,Tantalum and Zircon.

Regulations and Forms
Regulations and Forms relate to the allocation of mineral rights by the grant of mining tenements under the Mining Act 1978 (WA) and Regulations.
Obligations in respect to the various mining tenements issued are stated in the Act and Regulations and in a series of policy statements published on this website.
The Act and Regulations are constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of industry and in response to community expectations.
This site however has pamphlets and policy guidelines that contain the latest information about the range of mining titles available, how to apply for these, fees and rental and all the requirements for keeping a mining title in good standing such as how to obtain an exemption when obligations cannot be met through no fault of the title holder.
