Production Statistics
Contains current information on Production, Seismic and Drilling statistics within Western Australia.
Production
Five of the seven major sedimentary basins in Western Australia have known hydrocarbon accumulations, with 2010 production coming from the Perth, Carnarvon, Bonaparte and Canning Basins. 73 fields produced during calendar year 2010.For the calendar year 2010 Crude oil and condensate production averaged 0.058 Gigalitres per day (365,000 barrels per day) and average gas production was 0.100 Giga Cubic Metes per day (3.51 BCF/D) . Cumulative production for the State at 31 December 2010 was 265 GL Oil, 113 GL Condensate and 547 GCM Gas.
Reserves and resources to 31 December 2008 are 142 GL Oil, 256 GL Condensate and 3861 GCM Gas at the 50 per cent expectation level. There are also a number of discoveries and fields with scope for recovery.
Production by basin for the year was as follows:

Reserves
Petroleum Reserves in Western Australia have been compiled under three catagories
Category 1 comprises current reserves of those fields which have been declared commercial.
Category 2 comprises estimates of recoverable reserves which are held under Retention Leases and have not yet been declared commercially viable.
Category 3 comprises estimates of recoverable reserves which are held in other licences and have not yet been declared commercially viable.
The Petroleum Division is currently reviewing its reserves reporting process and as such are publishing estimated reserves and resources in a similar fashion to Geoscience Australia.
In all of the above categories reserves or resources have been quoted at the 50 per cent probability of recovery levels.
There are also a number of discoveries or fields with scope for recovery which may or may not eventually prove viable.

The above table lists the quantity of 2D seismic (line km) and 3D seismic (sq km) acquired during the calendar year. For surveys that commenced before 1.1.2010 only acquisition after this date is included.
The attached listing of surveys operating in the calendar year includes all data gathered prior to 31.12.2010.
