New Petroleum in WA magazine out now

Tuesday, 29 May 2012

The latest edition of the Department of Mines and Petroleum’s (DMP) Petroleum in Western Australia (PWA) magazine is now available online and in hard copy form.

PWA is Western Australia’s digest of petroleum exploration production and development activity.

The magazine covers a range of petroleum and geothermal energy issues and includes the latest statistics for petroleum exploration and production, as well as titles and holders lists.

In this edition the Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Norman Moore, reflects on his time in the petroleum industry and the growth it has experienced.

Also highlighted in the latest PWA is an overview of the DMP’s three new State petroleum and geothermal environment regulation proposals, to improve practices.

Other information featured includes the State areas released for petroleum exploration in May 2012, as well as the latest award of onshore and offshore petroleum exploration permits.

“The magazine also features an article on the potential for geothermal energy in our Pilbara region, focussing on hot dry rock geothermal systems,” Executive Director of Petroleum Bill Tinapple said.

“There are also updates on the Petroleum and Geothermal Register (PGR) and information on the WA joint authority functions following the transfer of offshore regulatory power on in January this year.”

To obtain a hard copy of the magazine, please contact the Petroleum Division on (08) 9222 3622 or pick one up from the first floor publications counter.
