The latest edition of Western Australia’s international resources development magazine Prospect is now available.
This issue features some of the exciting projects taking place in the State’s resources industry, including the State Government’s signing of a Development Agreement with Oakajee Port and Rail for a $4 billion Mid West infrastructure project, and the Department of Mines and Petroleum's $80 million Exploration Incentive Scheme.
The magazine's lead stories explore a number of valuable projects such as the Boddington gold mine about 130km south-east of Perth, the proposed Tropicana gold mine, and Galaxy Resources’ Mt Caitlin lithium and tantalum mines.
There is also a two-page feature on the newly appointed Department of Mines and Petroleum Director General Richard Sellers, and a story on DMP's Petroleum and Environment Division receiving a prestigious level of certification from the International Standards Organisation.
The certification recognises the department’s management of petroleum tenure and resources, environmental approvals and strategic business policy development, and its quality management system.
New opportunities for Western Australia’s coal future are also explored with plans for a $3.5 billion urea plant in Collie.
WA-based Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers says the plant will utlilise environmentally friendly, world-leading gasification technology to produce urea for local and international use.
The process will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by extracting carbon dioxide and using it to produce the urea, which is used in fertilisers.
Meanwhile carbon capture and storage (CCS) is also catching on in WA and Prospect features the State’s involvement as a foundation member of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute.
The new institute was established by the Commonwealth Government to accelerate the development and spread of CCS technology and information globally.
There is also a profile on Department of State Development Acting Deputy Director General Gail McGowan who is up for the challenge of driving the responsible development of WA’s resources.
Gail has broad professional experience that has allowed her to oversee diverse projects such the Kimberley Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project, the Ord Expansion Project and the Oakajee Industrial Estate and Port Project.
The magazine’s regular features include commissioned projects, committed projects and projects under consideration in WA.
Prospect is released quarterly and is produced by the Department of Mines and Petroleum and the Department of State Development.
