Proponents can now track online the progress of their mineral title applications with the latest upgrade of Mineral Titles Online.

The recent upgrade means proponents will see a graphical representation of what stage their application is at in the approvals process.

Mineral Titles Director Roy Burton said proponents can also identify which officer is handling their application, including their contact details.

“This additional feature of Mineral Titles Online (MTO) will greatly increase the transparency of the department’s approvals processes,” he said.

“The graphical representation of how a proponent’s application is tracking through the overall tenement determination process will make it easier for proponents to identify their application’s progress at a glance.

“We can also use the system internally to identify where expediencies can be made and how long it has taken to process each application.”

The new tracking feature only applies to applications made since January 2009. However general status information will continue to be available for all tenements via the normal MTO functionality or by calling the department.

Further upgrades to Mineral Titles Online, expected by the end of 2009, include access by proponents to confidential title information specific to their applications, and the ability to lodge online expenditure reports and make applications for exemption from expenditure.
