The latest edition of Western Australia’s international resources development magazine Prospect is now available.

The current issue features the Gorgon project, which was recently granted State and Commonwealth Government environmental approval and cleared for development by its joint venture operators.

The development is the biggest single resource project in Australia’s history, and is expected to create as many as 10,000 jobs during its construction stage and add billions of dollars to Australia’s gross domestic product.

The development of the State’s uranium sector is also featured in this issue of Prospect.

The article details the current situation and includes quotes from the three most prominent uranium proponents: BHP, Mega Uranium and Toro Energy.

There is also a feature on DMP’s new online Environmental Assessment and Regulatory System (EARS), and the upgrade to the Petroleum and Geothermal Register (PGR). The systems gives proponents the ability to track online the progress of their environmental applications greatly increasing the transparency of the approvals process.

Other articles include the department’s recent re-release of geothermal exploration acreage in the Perth Basin, which is expected to improve Western Australia’s position as Australia’s leading energy producer.

The release of acreage in the Perth, Eucla and Canning Basins is underpinning the development of a geothermal industry covering the southern and northern parts of the State.
