Noise Control in Mines

Note that although some guidance material was prepared under the auspices of previous departments and divisions, it is still valid.

Please be aware, however, that our address and contact details may have changed. The Cloisters Square postal address must not be used for correspondence.

Guidelines and procedures

Guidance material related to noise control in mines is provided below.

The noise control in mines guideline describes the nature of some of the more obvious sources and levels of noise in mines, and recommend ways to control noise, reduce exposure to noise and prepare a noise report.

The procedure for personal noise exposure recordings has been prepared to assist approved noise officers undertaking personal noise exposure recordings of employees involved in mining and mineral processing activities in Western Australia.

Following these procedures will help to ensure the uniformity and reliability of data collected for Resources Safety's MineHealth database.

The Occupational noise management in mining poster provides information on the legal responsibilities placed on employers.

The Protect your hearing poster provides guidance on ways to protect your hearing and recognising the signs of hearing injury.
