Petroleum Open Day 2009

The annual Petroleum Open Day hosted by the Petroleum and Environment Division and the Geological Survey Division was held at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle on Thursday 3 September 2009.

The day provided the department with an opportunity to update industry on developments, provide feedback to stakeholders and discuss trends for the future.

Topics that were covered included:

  • WA's growing energy sector - Richard Sellers (Director General Department of Mines and Petroleum)
  • Improving WA's petroleum approvals processes - Graham Cobby (Strategic Policy Division)
  • The National Carbon Storage Mapping Initiative - Jeff Haworth (Geological Survey Division)
  • Developing tight gas resources in WA - Stephen Keenihan (Latent Petroleum)
  • Carribuddy Group : removing uncertainties - Peter Haines (Geological Survey Division)
  • The Department's role in fostering exploration - Tim Griffin (Geological Survey Division)
