The Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) offers FREE training in its databases and online systems. The training is in the form of a presentation, with hands-on interaction in most systems.

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety offers in-person training in the use of GeoMap.WA, GeoVIEW.WA, TENGRAPH Web, Mines and Mineral Deposits (MINEDEX), Mineral exploration reports (WAMEX) and Exploration drilling and surface geochemistry database (Drillholes) online applications.

Attendees should know how to do the following in GeoVIEW.WA and TENGRAPH Web:

  • Identify
  • Zoom in/out
  • Turn on layers
  • Add drawings and measurements on the map
  • Do a simple search
  • Create a printout of the map
  • Add coordinate readouts

Our training room is equipped with desktop computers – you will need to have proficient computer skills. You are welcome to bring your own device if you want to run through specific examples.

10:00 – 12:00: Using the interactive map viewers, GeoVIEW.WA and TENGRAPH Web: REGISTER
13:00 – 14:00: Using Mines and Mineral Deposits (MINEDEX): REGISTER
14:00 – 15:00: Using Mineral exploration reports (WAMEX) and Exploration drilling and surface geochemistry database (Drillholes): REGISTER
15:00 – 16:00: Using Western Australian Petroleum and Geothermal Information Management System (WAPIMS): REGISTER

Please arrive 15 minutes before your session.

Enter through the front doors at 1 Adelaide Terrace (Causeway end), go up the ramp opposite reception to the glass doors with DMIRS signage. One of our staff will escort you to the training room.

During the break you can visit one of the many cafes/restaurants in the area.
