Golden Gecko entry deadline approaching

Golden Gecko Award applicants have three weeks to submit their 2015 application.
Date: Monday, 23 March 2015

Entries close Friday 10 April.

Applicants still have three weeks to submit their entries for this year’s Golden Gecko Awards for Environmental Excellence.

This is the twenty fourth year that the Department of Mines and Petroleum has been recognising excellence and leadership, and acknowledging the outstanding contributions recipients have made to the responsible development of Western Australia’s resources.

DMP Executive Director Environment Dr Phil Gorey said the awards offer an opportunity for industry to be recognised for leading practice and innovation in environmental management.

“The Golden Gecko Awards allow companies to share their experiences with government, industry and the community,” Dr Gorey said.

“Receiving a Golden Gecko also helps to build the reputation of being a responsible corporate citizen with a responsible attitude to the environment.”

Golden Gecko Award entries are assessed by a panel of members from State Government agencies involved in environmental regulation of the resources sector.

Assessment panel members undertake site visits and attend presentations by applicant organisations.

“Applications are assessed against the Award selection criteria, rather than against other entries, which creates a level playing field on which organisations of all sizes can compete evenly for a Golden Gecko Award,” Dr Gorey said.

Entries for this year's Golden Gecko Awards close on 10 April 2015.
