Last year the WA State Government approved the transfer of the mining and petroleum royalty collection and administration functions from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) to RevenueWA. The move was in keeping with other states, who in recent years have moved their royalty collection and auditing responsibilities from mining and industry related departments to their State Revenue agencies.

DMIRS Resource and Environmental Compliance Executive Director, Karen Caple said while the transition continues there has been very little to no impact on clients.

“On behalf of DMIRS, I’d like to thank the royalties team for all their hard work and diligence over the past months and for approaching this change with such positivity.

“They have worked hard to establish themselves within RevenueWA while maintaining seamless service to royalty payers,” she said.

“System changes and legislative amendments are required to enable a full transfer to the Department of Finance, and these will be progressively implemented and outlined clearly to our stakeholders in advance.”

There are currently no changes to the payment or online reporting systems while DMIRS continue to be responsible for royalty policy and legislation functions.

However from Friday 29 April 2022, should you wish to call a Royalties team member you can either call DMIRS reception on (08) 9222 2333 or use the listing posted within the Royalties Management System or as provided to individual royalty payers.
