Training and workshop for prospectors in the Mid-West

Promoting benefits of online systems
Date: Tuesday, 14 June 2016

Mid-West prospectors will get free training on how to use the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) Mineral Titles Online and Tengraph systems through workshops to be held later this month.

The department’s Mineral Titles Division and the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) will be holding the training to help prospectors use the online systems.

“These systems provide current information of land availability and details on the mineral titles in Western Australia,” acting Mineral Titles Executive Director Tony Bullen said.

“Many prospectors are keen to know more about the online systems for applications, and other online applications now available to them,” he said.

Topics for the free database and online systems training will include advice on how to navigate the department’s website, DMP’s digital transition strategy, and an overview of the Expedited Procedure and prospecting and exploration licences.

“Those in attendance will also be able to learn how to find digital datasets using the DMP Data and Software Centre and better understand the new online reporting system for WAMEX reports,” Mr Bullen said.

GSWA staff will give advice on how to use the interactive map viewer GeoVIEW.WA and GeoMap.WA, which is the department’s standalone mapping system, along with the latest geological mapping app for smartphones.

The training will be held from 9am-2.15pm at Meekatharra on Monday June 20, Cue on Wendnesday June 22, Mount Magnet on Friday June 24 and Sandstone on Monday June 27.
