Mentally healthy workplaces: Resources for workers

What are your responsibilities?

Your legal responsibilities
Responsibilities of workers

Western Australia’s workplace safety and health legislation aims to eliminate or minimise risks to your health and safety as a worker. You also have obligations under the same legislation. Adhering to these obligations helps keep the workplace safe for yourself and others.

Workers need to take reasonable care to ensure the safety and health of themselves and others at work, and co-operate with the employer in matters of health and safety.

Disclosure

Everyone has the right to a safe workplace. Workers have a responsibility to disclose to their employer if they have a condition that is likely to have an effect on:

  • their ability to meet the requirements of the job
  • their ability to work safely
  • the safety of co-workers
  • the workplace’s emergency response plans.
