Entries for DMP’s Golden Gecko, Community Partnership, and Safety and Health Awards are now officially open
Date: Wednesday, 08 February 2017

The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) announces the new 2017 Awards for Excellence.

For the first time, this year’s awards will incorporate three different areas recognising excellence in the resources industry.

The Safety and Health awards will join the prestigious Golden Gecko and Community Partnership Awards, acknowledging innovation, outstanding performance and leadership to ensure that the State’s resources are developed in a responsible manner for the benefit of all West Australians.

DMP Acting Director General Dr Tim Griffin said the awards provided the perfect platform to showcase and celebrate industry advances and innovation.

"Striving for excellence in health, safety, social and environmental responsibility is something the department strongly encourages, and helps to raise standards that benefit both the community and industry," Dr Griffin said.

"The calibre of entries has demonstrated a determination to promote a safe work environment, environmental excellence, and the importance of community partnerships in the resources sector. I am sure 2017 will be no different."

The Safety and Health Awards, Golden Gecko Awards for environmental excellence and the Community Partnership Awards are now open for nominations. More information on eligibility and the criteria for each of the awards can be found on DMP’s website.
