DMIRS responds to public feedback on new Statutory Guidelines

New repackaged Statutory Guidelines for mining proposals and mine closure plans to be released February 2020.
Date: Monday, 23 December 2019

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) today published a response to the public feedback it received as part of the recently released draft Statutory Guidelines for mining proposals and mine closure plans.

DMIRS reviewed and repackaged the Statutory Guidelines to clarify the mandatory requirements for these applications.

From February 2020, all mining proposals and mine closure plans must meet the requirements identified in the Statutory Guidelines.

DMIRS is now updating the documents in response to feedback and will publish the finalised documents before February 2020 to allow stakeholders preparing applications early next year to assess the final content.

DMIRS’ review process included a 12-week public consultation period, an information sheet and briefing sessions in Perth, Kalgoorlie and Bunbury.
