Industry consultation open for new annual assessment reporting templates

DMIRS provides optional templates for petroleum title holders preparing annual assessment reports.
Date: Tuesday, 14 January 2020

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has created new templates to assist petroleum title holders completing their mandatory annual assessment reports (AAR).

The draft templates for exploration permits, retention leases and production licences are now open for public consultation until 5.00pm Friday 10 April 2020.

The templates offer guidance on the information title holders must provide to meet the statutory requirements for AARs as prescribed in the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2015 and/or the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2015.

The guidance aims to streamline the way AARs are prepared and assessed by improving consistency and reducing the need for the department to request further information.

While using the templates is optional, petroleum titles holders preparing AARs in an alternative format must provide sufficient information to meet the statutory requirements.

DMIRS will consider the public consultation feedback before releasing the final versions of the templates.
