The latest edition of WA’s digest of petroleum exploration, development and production Petroleum in Western Australia (PWA) magazine is now available online.

This edition details changes to the Resource Management and Administration Regulations which provide an objective based, risk managed approach to the exploration and production of petroleum and geothermal energy resources.

The regulations cover a range of resource management and administration matters including well management plans for the approval of all drilling activities, notification and reporting discovery of petroleum, and field management plans for approval of petroleum recovery.

PWA magazine also provides an overview of petroleum activities undertaken in Western Australia during 2016, as well as details of the Canning Coastal seismic survey providing data on the Canning Basin in the State’s north, and an overview of underground gas storage in Western Australia, including the Tubridgi Gas Storage Agreement.

There is a feature on community engagement in the Kimberley, a region that hosts the Canning Basin, one of Australia’s largest and least explored petroleum provinces, details on the $7.3 million expansion of the Perth Core Library, and an article on well integrity.

As well as many other articles, PWA looks at the 1920’s oil boom in Western Australia and the exploration that followed the end of the First World War in the Kimberley.
