Modernising Work Health and Safety laws in WA - public comment closing soon

DMIRS is reminding people that the public comment period on proposed changes to Work Health and Safety laws closes on 31 August.
Date: Tuesday, 14 August 2018

The public comment period on proposed changes to Western Australia’s Work Health and Safety laws closes on 31 August.

The proposed changes are part of the development of a single harmonised and amalgamated Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.

The new WHS laws will cover all workplaces in Western Australia including mines, petroleum and general workplaces, with specific regulations for each industry sector based on national model WHS laws.

As part of the development of these new laws, a Ministerial Advisory Panel has provided recommendations to Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Commerce and Industrial Relations Bill Johnston.

A report detailing these recommendations was released to the public and coincided with a series of information sessions held across Western Australia.

To further assist people in providing comment, the department has released a video presentation to help guide people through the process, as well as other supporting information.
