Customers will need to use DMP’s online systems from 1 July

Filling out paper forms and lodging them over the counter will soon become a thing of the past as the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) progresses its Digital DMP initiative.

From 1 July 2015, DMP is phasing out some paper-based transactions where a digital system is currently available.

The move is part of the department’s Digital DMP initiative. Executive Director Strategic Projects Julie de Jong said it will help to deliver a faster and more seamless customer experience.

“The benefits for our customers will include improved processing and reporting timeframes, and around the clock access to payment and application lodgement systems,” Mrs de Jong said.

“DMP has worked hard at improving our online customer service across all divisions.

“In 2014 DMP introduced its first online-only submission, the Mining Rehabilitation Fund report and currently 100 per cent of Project Management Plans and 87 per cent of Mining Proposals are lodged online.”

The list of current paper transactions being phased out is available on the DMP website.

“DMP will inform customers as further digital transactions become available and provide support and training where required to help with the transition,” Mrs de Jong said.

Customers needing to transition from paper to digital transactions can set-up a free online account.

Support is available from the DMP service desk between 8.30am and 5.00pm (WST) Monday to Friday by calling 08 9222 0777 or emailing it.servicedesk@dmp.wa.gov.au.
